SIZING + FIT

About The Clothing

We repair all items as much as possible before we ship them. All major flaws (if any) are mentioned in the items description. Once in a while we may miss small flaws such as minor loose seams, tiny holes or very small or faint stains. We are human after all and sometimes flaws can hide in folds and such. Small flaws that are not visible or do not affect the wearing of the item are not mentioned.

Please keep in mind that most of our items are about 60 or more years old and will have normal typical vintage general wear from cleaning, age, etc. We are introducing our Vintage Condition Rating Chart to give you a fair idea of the condition of an item. If an item is not in as described then you can always return it. But if you are looking for perfection all vintage clothing is probably not for you.

How We Size and Measure

The best way to make sure a vintage item will fit is to find a similar item you already own that fits and compare the measurements in inches to the new item you want.

a               We measure as accurately as possible. Measurements are the fabric when lying flat. Keep in mind you will need to account for comfort in your measurements. So if a waist is 26" you need to be a bit smaller to fit. How much depends on you and your idea of comfort.

b               Vintage size numbers are not the same as modern size numbers so please do not go by those. They have changed over the years and gradually over the years they have become larger – Marilyn wasn’t a modern size 16 but probably nearer a 10-12. But don’t despair, when shopping for vintage go by measurements and compare to a similar item in your wardrobe and you won’t go far wrong. We measure our vintage clothes and list these measurements. These are actual garment measurements and you should probably be around 2”+ smaller to allow you to move, just how much depends on your comfort. Our Vintage Reproductions are generally as modern clothes and are listed by size and not measurements.
