And so... Vintage Curves is born.
Husband whinged about amount of “stuff” stashed around the house, in sheds and storage unit, oh, and the loft. So, just a little huffily, I amassed it all together in the dining room and found – there isn’t room for me or anyone else and there is still more in the wardrobe plus the shoes and bags!
The very first gorgeous curvaceous 1950’s gown I bought is this white matalasse strapless wiggle dress with a fabulous drape attached to the back, perfect for playing “Angels”.
I saw it in Canterbury on a Saturday and lusted for it. It was £50.00 and in need of some TLC – serious! So I left it behind and went home to Maidstone.
It gnawed at my mind all night and I just had to have it – ‘phoned the shop to make sure they didn’t sell it and flew there as fast as my little car would go. The prized possession came home with me. Away from the shop it looked a little grey, very limp, stitching pulled and frayed, and zipper needing replacing. What had I done – husband looked on dubiously.
So I un-picked most of it, mounted it on white cotton and stitched it back together – adding some bones for extra insurance. Then had it cleaned and now it’s sparkling white and gorgeous as you can see. I’ve since copied it and made a long black dress, without drape. Take a look …
